Back when we had Noded North we had access to some of the best regional food. You have not been to the Chicago area if you have not had deep dish pizza and my favorite, Italian Beef. Go to any other part of the country and ask for an Italian Beef and you will get unknowing stares. Portillo’s recently opened a restaurant in Orlando (it’s about time.) Might not have the size of the ones near Chicago but it does have the lines.
And here it the aforementioned Italian Beef sandwich. The thin cut beef is cooked in unbelievably goodness of juices and Italian seasoning an presented on a Italian sandwich roll with sweet peppers. You can also get hot peppers but this one does not have them. The tenderness of the beef from marinating all day in the juice is a thing of beauty. It is also not an un-messy thing to eat.
Real Chicago food.
